"Endowed with a voice that is not only remarkable for the richness of harmonics and brilliance, powerful in the high notes 'of strength', but especially for the control of the emission of half-voices and pianissimos".
L'Opera
Erika Grimaldi is one of the most sought-after lyrical sopranos of today, with a close link to the prestigious Teatro Regio in Turin, where she has performed a dozen roles. She is a regular guest in major opera houses such as the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, the Deutsche Oper in Berlin and the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, among others.
With a rich, round voice, attractive and high-quality timbre, Grimaldi stands out for her impressive depth and solidity, unifying her personal musical expression with a captivating stage presence. Among the music directors with whom she has worked regularly are conductors such as Giannandrea Noseda, Riccardo Chailly, Nicola Luisotti, Antonello Allemandi, Krzysztof Penderecki, Roberto Abbado, Nello Santi and Luis Lopez-Cobos. In addition, she has worked with stage directors such as Calixto Bieito, Christof Loy, Stefano Poda and Àlex Ollé, among others.
A prominent interpreter of the Verdian repertoire, her upcoming debuts include Amelia in Un Ballo in Maschera with Giannandrea Noseda at the Zurich Opera and Lady Macbeth in Macbeth at the National Opera of Korea. Additionally, she will soon perform Desdemona in Otello alongside Maestro Noseda and the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center, in Washington DC.
Grimaldi's extensive career also stands out for her artistic versatility and, in particular, for her exquisite interpretations of some of the great works of the symphonic-choral repertoire. Among her upcoming commitments in this field, special mention should be made of the Verdi Requiem, which she will perform in Prague with the Czech Symphony Orchestra, or the Beethoven Ninth Symphony, which she will sing on tour in Spain with the ADDA Orchestra, the Orfeón Donostiarra, and conducted by Josep Vicent.
